Unconditional Love

It’s been said several million times that children love their parents unconditionally.

When my daughter is upset by something, and crying, she often wants me to pick her up and hold her for a while. This is true even when *I’m the one who pissed her off.*

If I force her to get dressed before going to the park (instead of going naked, which is her preference), she might scream bloody murder and cry breathlessly. But she doesn’t tell me to go to hell. She still wants me to calm her just as I would if she’d fallen down and skinned her knee.

Let’s say someone did something that made you rage. Would you say, “you jackass, I hate you! Hold me.” ?

From the wikipedia entry on Battered Person Syndrome (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battered_person_syndrome):

“Often sufferers will even seek out their very abuser for comfort shortly after an incident of abuse.”

So, I think what you’re suggesting is that men who beat their women actually experience a form of unconditional love in return. Right up until she sets the bed on fire, of course.

They absolutely do. They do the worst things imaginable and still are loved absolutely.

    You lack imagination.
