Stressed Out? Read a Book

books

The short version:

Volunteers went through stressful tests, then tried different methods of relaxing (cup of tea, walking, listening to music, playing video games, reading). Reading brought down heart rate and muscle tension more quickly than any other method of relaxing.

I’m not sure of the specifics of the test, since obviously lying down reading would reduce heart rate and muscle tension faster than walking would. But does that mean it reduces stress better? I assume they’ve thought of that and had other ways to measure stress.

The content of the reading material didn’t seem to matter much, so I’m gonna say that reading this blog is PROVEN to be an effective way to fight stress.
