I don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t think that letting Dubai run the ports poses a threat to security. And I doubt that any professional politician does either. This is the Democrats realizing that they can throw egg on Bush\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s face with very little pain, and the Republicans afraid of being left to the left. I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122m not sure who\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s behaving worse, and maybe this time it\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s a toss-up.<\/p>\n<p>As for the frothing public, the irony is lovely. The country is now in the state of paranoia that Bush dreamt about when selling the Iraq invasion and warrant-less wiretapping. But he can\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t turn it off, and he can\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t control it.<\/p>\n<p>I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122m glad that Dubai pulled out, because of the waste of time that vetoing and overriding a veto would be.
