Seed Magazine (which is in my list of links) belatedly links to a <\/span>2001 science fair <\/a>for people who ignore and misunderstand science. Well, that\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s not how they represent it, of course, but it\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s accurate.<\/span><\/p>\n

I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ll discount the elementary school winners; no one expects them to understand science, anyway. But check out the two middle school winners.<\/p>\n

The first place winner put some ingredients in a jar for three weeks, then noticed that life didn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t spontaneously appear (though I doubt she checked with a microscope). Therefore, she concludes that life couldn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t appear from nonliving materials.<\/p>\n

It\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s something like proving that oak trees don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t grow from seeds. Put a seed in the dirt for three weeks. No tree? There ya go! Or, even more illuminating, grab some sperm and prove that humans don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t come from that.<\/p>\n

The middle school second place winner is even more fantastic, and I leave it to you to find out for yourself.<\/p>\n

Seed also points us to <\/span>Lambuel<\/a>, which is a little lamb who helps kids learn about Jesus. Best line from Lambuel?<\/span><\/p>\n
