I was once in a large, heavy, canoe-like boat with about 6 other people. We had docked next to several similar boats, and as the waves heaved, the boats knocked and banged against each other.<\/p>\n
While we were waiting to get out, a guy next to me rested his hand over the top edge of our boat. His reflexes were good because just before another boat BAM! hit ours right where his hand was, he pulled away and saved himself from a crunch.<\/p>\n
“Whew!” he said. Close one.<\/p>\n
Thirty seconds later, his hand was back on the side of our boat and his reflexes weren’t as good. Crack, and his finger was broken. I remember perfectly the high-pitched yelp he gave at that moment.<\/p>\n
DON’T BLOW SECOND CHANCES<\/strong><\/p>\n We get so few second chances. Unfortunately, whatever inclination of ours puts us in a bad situation is usually still there after we narrowly avoid disaster. We have to fight against those inclinations.<\/p>\n Today I nearly lost a glove over a railing into the deep beyond. After I caught the glove, I took a second to congratulate myself, then put it right back on the damn railing. I suddenly flashed on the yelp, shook my head, and stuck the glove in my pocket. Whew!<\/p>\n If that guy hadn’t broken his finger, I’d have lost a glove. So I’m sure he’s happy about helping me out.<\/p>\n The video below is Internet-famous. The guy realizes that he should have seen it coming, then does the absolute worst possible thing he could do. Somehow, a second after he realizes that he should have seen it coming, he forgot that he should have seen it coming. He didn’t realize that the first time was a warning.<\/p>\n
