Of course, CNN Online is abysmal and aldaily ROCKS. But other than that, here’s the difference:
When I write to CNN Online to tell them of a mistake in an article (like a typo, or missing words, or sentences that end in the middle of a thought), I never hear a word, and the mistake stays online forever. Really. Forever.
When I write to aldaily about a typo, it’s fixed within a day, and Denis Dutton himself writes back to say thanks and comment on a specific part of my email. That is, it wasn’t a form letter “thanks.”
I love aldaily.
aldaily is put out by The Chronicle of Higher Education, of which I have been a huge fan for years. They do a very good job with very good writers and very good photographers. Good is the word here. Good.
Also, they make my job easier by tracking all kinds of trends at U.S. and overseas colleges and universities. So, there.
Good.
But I’ve loved ALdaily WAAAAY before the CHE had anything to do with it. So I’m kind of awesome.
As I mentioned to Denis (Denis and I are now BFF), I even have a t-shirt, from back when they used to sell them. Before they closed shop for lack of funds, then reopened once CHE paid the bills.
