This is Not Nice

Cop beats the crap out of a 15 year old girl.

She did sort of seem to kick her shoe at him a little bit. So obviously she’s dangerous and needs to be beaten.

However, after being thrown to the ground (by her hair), she didn’t seem to struggle at all, so the two punches to her head seem a bit excessive. Picking her up by her hair wasn’t exactly a cool move either.

Afterwards, the girl said that she was having trouble breathing, so they called some paramedics.

I guess that the cop had to write a report, so he somewhat understated the situation, saying that he placed her in handcuffs and that she needed medical attention for a panic attack.

Oh. I forgot to mention that he said that she was “real lippy,” to them. She called them fat pigs. I hope he spends a long, fat piggy time in prison.

Boing Boing points us to the video. See it happen, if you can stomach it.

This is another example of a minor enforcement incident being taken completely out of context and blown out of proportion. So he’s a drug-abusing, violent drunkard. That’s why he has the badge in the first place! What other job can a vicious thug get, that would provide him the opportunity to beat up defenseless girls? You “civil rights” types are going to have to just get over it. If you want to live in a police state, you’re going to have to expect the occasional bit of recreational excess. I bet that girl won’t be talking back to the law again.

BTW, I don’t mean to imply that *all* police officers are like Paul Schene. Some, such as Travis Brunner, prefer to hold the perp still during the beating.

I feel bad that this incident was from my part of the world. He should be fired and jailed.
Our crime statistics are way down- sure do hope that brutality is not the reason.

Well, if they keep catching the cops, then the crime stats will rise, ’cause police brutality is illegal!

This guy is apparently only charged with a misdemeanor. If that doesn’t change, then he’ll probably never serve any time.

I have to say that all but ONE of the cops I’ve dealt with have been polite and professional.

Of course, I was polite as well, so maybe that’s part of it. If I was impolite (which I have every right to be), maybe they’d have shown me their dark sides.

Yes, it’s best to be polite to police. I know of someone whose father had a tendency to be rude. After a traffic stop, he “resisted arrest”, spent the next few days in a hospital, then died of his resistance. I know someone else whose uncle was a chief of police. A beggar was rude to the chief’s wife. The beggar was taken into custody (not charged), severely beaten over the course of the next few hours, then released. Too many bullies become cops so they can get away with this sort of thing. Without the video being released, Schene and Brunner would likely have never been charged at all.
