Summer Reads

From The Guardian, a list of the best summer reads of all times. I don’t know what constitutes a summer read.

I’ve read, and really liked, the first item on the list. So I was all prepared to go through the list, giving my opinions on all the ones I’d read. But, um, well, I DID go through the list, and I’d only read ONE other book. Which I didn’t much like.

Here they are:

The French Lieutenant’s Woman- John Fowles: This is the one I really liked.

Tender is the Night – F Scott Fitzgerald: Through the process of elimination, I bet you can figure out that this is the one I didn’t like that much.

So there ya go! My take on the Guardian’s list. Incidentally, I don’t really understand what they’ve done. It appears, though it can’t be so, that they’ve gotten several people to each recommend one book, then Simon Schama recommends the next three dozen or so.
