One of the many funny lines in Pulp Fiction was when Vincent said something like:
“Jules, if you give this nimrod fifteen hundred bucks, I’m gonna shoot him on general principle.”
So, here I am watching an episode of the hugely entertaining Rockford Files (on hulu.com).
And Jim Rockford gets mad and says something like: “You [did something or other that I don’t remember], I should shoot you on general principles.”
Ha! Rockford got there first.
“hugely entertaining”? And here I’d considered Rockford Files another somewhat embarrassing “guilty pleasure”. I loved watching it, but didn’t like that I liked it.
Well, I don’t think that “entertaining” and “guilty pleasure” are mutually exclusive.
But in this case, I don’t feel guilty about it at all. It’s witty and fun, doesn’t take itself seriously, but isn’t brain-dead either.
