I’ve mentioned before that I use Delicious Library to log my books. I like it, though I have yet to use it to its fullest.
Today, just for kicks, I published my book and CD library. It only took a click or two. Mind you, it’s only part of the whole. Logging a book with an ISBN number is easy, but I have a lot that have no number, which makes it hard enough that I procrastinate.
I guess that I don’t really need to publish my library, but it is nice to be able to back it up online easily. And I guess it’s also nice to be able to see it from any computer that’s on the Web. But mainly it’s just fun. Let’s face it.
The UI needs a bit of work. Should be able to search, and I don’t like sites that don’t let you jump to any page. They’ll fix it up, I assume.
I know I’m crassly commercial, but I think it would be an enhancement to be able to link to a place you could purchase the book, . If you didn’t want to commercialize it (the creator obviously didn’t) then maybe put the ISBN into the “More Info” entry so that you could quickly look it up yourself (at your local library website, for instance). Or at least put up a link so I could e-mail you and ask to borrow one of your books. 😉
I could see doing all those things except linking to my email address. Anyone who’s allowed to borrow a book from me already knows my address.
And that includes you, Kevin, you lucky thing!
