You know the X-Men, right? Mutants who save the world and such. Awesome.
And you know Wolverine, right? Super-fast-healing hairy badass.
And, you know how Wolverine has these claw-thingies that he can force through the skin of his hands? And, when asked whether it hurts when that happens, he said, “every time”?
How about a Wolverine frog? This is the baddest frog on the planet.
First, it’s hairy. JUST LIKE WOLVERINE!
Second, it’s got bones that it can thrust through its skin to act as claws. Yes, the bones literally tear through the skin. Yes. Just like Wolverine.
And just like Wolverine, the skin heals itself after the claws retract back into the frog’s leg. At least, that’s what scientists think.
[I wish I could show you the picture I saw this morning, showing the bones on the inside of the foot. Unfortunately, it was in Knowledge magazine, whose online version hasn’t caught up to its print version yet.]
Well, based on your enthusiasm for this frog I just had to google a little and find an image of the claws / bones. Here are some I found:

Very neat.
Thanks!
